Mr. Johnson served as president for the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. from December 2015 through December 2018, a mentoring organization named as Nonprofit of the year by the D.C. Chamber of Commerce in May 2018 for its STEM and Mentoring programs located in the Southeast and Shaw neighborhoods of Washington, D.C. The chapter won a robotics competition at a NSBE conference on March 21, 2018, was featured on NBC on January 21, 2018 and the Russ Parr Morning Show on May 8, 2018 for its programmatic success.

He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., initiated at Penn State University in 1987 where he served as chapter president. Mr. Johnson was honored with the Leon N. Gordon Order of the Sphinx for his leadership and President’s Award for his mentoring activities in February 2018 and an achievement award for presenting financial literacy workshops to young men in a Leadership Development Institute sponsored by Omicron Lambda Alpha graduate chapter in June 2018. In past years, Mr. Johnson has also served as president of the Association of African American Advisors from 2009 through 2010 and many other activities that impact the community.
